NOSE CONE...this is the removable part that fits over the needles in the front end of the machine...it is to be lifted off VERY CAREFULLY as described in the Instruction Book and the VHS Tape or DVD (available on the Website)...to get to the camshaft in which the different needles sizes are placed for different length stitches.
